3-DAY ALS CAP BUILDING SEMINAR CONDUCTED
CATBALOGAN CITY - Deped ALS Field Implementation of Samar Division covered by twenty-nine (29) districts held a 3-day Capability Building for Alternative Learning System (ALS) Implementers for Innovative and Creative Strategies in Teaching Adults, Effective use of Basic Research of Evaluation Techniques and Assessment of Learning at ALS, DepEd, Redaja Hall, Catbalogan City from December 16 -18, 2015.

The Capability Building was attended by the DepEd Education Program Supervisor for ALS, Mr. Faustino M. Tobes who said that there is a need to enhance the skills of the ALS Field Implementers of Samar division in managing differentiated instructions that can help address the need of diverse learners in the Alternative Learning System.

Mr. Rodito L. Balastas Jr., one of the speakers and the education program Specialist for Curriculum Implementation Division (EPS-CID) Division of Samar discussed the assessment of Learning in Alternative Learning System. "ALS Implementers should be introduced to effective approaches, methodologies and strategies in the use of basic research , evaluation techniques and assessment of learning on improving the teaching skills development in the context of the ALS", Balastas said.

Other speaker is the Program Specialist of Alternative Learning System in the person of Mrs. Maricel C. Machate who briefly discussed the Effective Use of Research and Evaluation Techniques.

Alternative Learning System is a parallel learning in the Philippines that provides practical options to the existing formal instruction. When one does not have or cannot access formal education in school.
ALS as an alternative or substitute, includes both the non-formal and informal source of knowledge and skills.

ALS implementers are Deped Teachers who are especially designated in barangays in different municipalities to extend service in eradicating the illiteracy rate and help contribute the realization of the Education for All (EFA) Goal which is Zero illiteracy.
