SUPER METRO CALBAYOG OPENING: A GRAND CELEBRATION
CALBAYOG CITY – Super Metro Calbayog, the 15th hypermarket store of the Metro Retail Stores Group and the first of its kind in the city is now in business with the shoppers since 11:00 o’clock noon of February 12, 2016 after a ceremonial celebration two hours earlier.

City Mayor Ronald P. Aquino, Fr. Frederick Davila, OFM of Christ the King College, Fr. Roland Cajegas and corporate officials of the Metro Retails Stores Group led by Owner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Henry Gaisano and Mr. Arthur Emmanuel, President and Chief Operations Officer (COO) cut the ribbon paving the shoppers’ way to the super finds that the Super Metro has to offer.

The opening celebrations started with a Sarakiki Hadang Ritual by a group of performers under the direction and tutelage of Mr. Jonas T. Lim, City Arts and Culture Officer of the local government.
The city’s champion in the 2015 Drum Corps Competition - Christ the King College (CKC) drum corps -performed an exhibition number with the performance of the elegant and lovely majorette and minorettes who gracefully pranced to the beat and rhythm of the drums and instruments at the store’s foyer along Magsaysay Boulevard giving entertainment to the eager shopper’s waiting to be allowed entrance to view and shop.
Mr. Arthur Emmanuel, in his speech, in behalf of the Metro Retail Stores Group, expressed thanks to the people who helped and supported in making the store a reality with particular mention to the CKC community, the city government of Calbayog. He further assured that customers will be listened to for ideas and suggestions that can be taken care of by the Store Manager, Ms. Mae Flor P. Lauronal with the purpose of providing good quality products at reasonable prices. A clean shopping environment, friendly associates and employees was also assured to customers.
Owner and CEO Henry Gaisano delivered a description and the objectives of building hypermarkets thereby enumerating its commitment to provide livelihood thru the business operations of its chain of retail stores.
“The city’s investment code is the instrument that will pave the way towards progress of Calbayog,” says Mayor Ronald Aquino in his speech during the opening celebrations. Providing a five-year moratorium that eases investors from business tax attracted companies to put-up business in the city.
City Officials and department heads, bank managers and employees, people from the academe and other visitors were the first group of people ushered in as the first cluster of shoppers.

People from all walks of life coming from the different places in Calbayog and the nearby towns flowed in and out to shop until ten o’clock in the evening of the opening day.
