CALBAYOG CITY – Police investigators on the case of slain sweethearts, Roan Jeallen Lamparas and Jade Andrei Bestudio, reported causes of death based on the autopsy report of a medical examiner in the city.
Bestudio died of hypovolimic shock (a lot of bleeding) secondary to a gunshot wound in the head (particularly the temporoparietal area). He was seen lifeless midmorning of June 14, 2022 in a dranage canal on the side of a new diversion road in the city’s Barangay San Policarpo.
About nine hours later (around 8:10 PM of June 14, 2022), the body of Lamparas was found lying naked and spreadeagle among the bushes and tall grasses at the side of a diversion road in Barangay Bagacay, about over 8 kilometers away from where Bestudio was seen. She died of intracranial bleeding (or bleeding inside the skull) secondary to blunt trauma (injury of the body by forceful impact, falls, or physical attack with a dull object).
Both Lamparas and Bestudio were last seen together riding on the latter’s motorbike headed towards the northern direction of the city in the evening of June 13, 2022.
“The female swabs of Lamparas proved positive of male cells but the results presently at hand is not yet enough to say that she was gang-raped because the investigation and examination of evidences is still in progress,” Calbayog PNP OIC-Chieft, PLt. Col. Ericson Del Rosario, told Calbayog Journal.

“Pieces of evidences such as the teacher’s uniform (slacks and blouse), her pair of shoes, etc. are still in the process of examination while investigation to possibly identify the suspects are continuously being conducted by joint forces of the Philippine National Police from the Regional, Provincial and local level,” one of the investigators-on-case informed.
Calbayog Journal was further informed the arrest of Jericho Fajardo y Payos alias “Chocoy” is by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest for a case of Robbery. Stories posted on social media that the arrest is relative to the case of the slain sweethearts are purely rumors.
Although he may be considered as one of the persons-of-interest in the case by coincidence of his activities, the PNP will still determine his involvement thru forensic procedures.
With the permission of the PNP, Calbayog Journal was able to personally talk to Fajardo at the Headquarter’s detention cell where he awaits being committed to the Court.
Calbayog Journal was further informed the arrest of Jericho Fajardo y Payos alias “Chocoy” is by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest for a case of Robbery. Stories posted on social media that the arrest is relative to the case of the slain sweethearts are purely rumors.

Fajardo vehemently denies having admitted to have participation in the act of killing Lamparas and Bestudio. He said he was always in Barangay Bante.
Meanwhile, the PNP OIC-Chief assured that the investigation is in progress and will continue until suspects are made to face the consequences of their heinous act.
“We are pulling all the forces and resources that we can gather, and even at the rate that the investigation is progressing, the PNP has yet to establish sufficient material evidences that should be corroborated with testimonies of witnesses to be able to file cases against suspects,” the PNP OIC-Chief said.
PLt. Col. Del Rosario assured that the PNP will do its best in solving the case but would want the people to stop posting false information on social media pages and requests people to verify matters before believing and making conclusions about any rumor being spread by people whose purpose is only to create confusion in the community.
