DOLE TAKE STEPS TO PROTECT CONSTRUCTION WORKERS
CALBAYOG CITY- The Department of Labor and Employment(DOLE) has taken steps to ensure that people engaged in the building of structures are actually paying attention to the safety requirements established by the agency.

The move is intended to protect laborers who are constantly exposed to hazards common to the building industry- a purpose that is enshrined in DOLE Department Order No. 13, Series of 1998 known as DOLE Guidelines Governing the Occupational Safety and Health in the construction industry, and in Department Order No. 19 series of 1993 known as DOLE guidelines governing the employment of workers in the construction industry.

In pursuit of this goal the DOLE conducted in August 10 to 14 of 2015 a four-day Construction Safety and Health Training for building contractors regularly participating in the implementation of government construction projects overseen by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Basic safety concepts, unsafe practices, construction site premises assessment, construction machineries, and industrial safety and hygiene were among the subjects discussed by the training crew.

The said activity was held at the DPWH office in Calbayog City.
