Catbalogan City, Samar — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Station Western Samar has temporarily suspended all sea travel within the province as a safety measure against Tropical Storm Uwan (international name Fung-Wong).

Station Commander Lt. Paul Albert E. Asis ordered the suspension for all vessels and watercraft, except those seeking shelter with proper clearance and without passengers or cargo.

By this afternoon, Catbalogan City Port stood almost deserted, a stark reminder of the storm’s threat. The usual bustle of motorized passenger boats was gone, leaving only a few cargo vessels quietly anchored, bobbing gently in the calm waters under a gray, looming sky.

The PCG urges mariners, travelers, and coastal residents to remain vigilant and strictly follow advisories from PAGASA and the Coast Guard.
