Catbalogan City, Samar – Severe Tropical Storm TINO continues its west-southwestward movement and is now nearing typhoon strength.
As of 7:00 AM, the center of TINO was estimated at 360 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar (10.6°N, 129.0°E). The system carries maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h, gusts reaching 135 km/h, and a central pressure of 980 hPa.
It is currently moving west-southwest at 25 km/h.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 remains hoisted over Catbalogan City and nearby localities, with light to moderate rains already being felt in the area.
Photos taken along 7th Street and Rizal Avenue show that rainfall has begun in Catbalogan as residents brace for possible stronger winds and heavier downpour.
On Monday night, Governor Sharee Ann Tan released an executive order suspending classes in all levels across Samar Province as a safety measure due to the ongoing weather disturbance.
