CITY HIGH STALWARTS DOMINATE UP TILTS
CALBAYOG CITY - Besting secondary schools in Leyte and Samar, Calbayog City National High School brought this year’s championship crown in the annual "UP Pakaritay and Biolympiad" at the University of the Philippines, Tacloban College.

CCNHS team claimed victory in the "UP Pakaritay" where the Quiz Bee Team Category composed of Mel Nico Dela Peña, Alexa Gail Roxas and Wilenor Elio with their coach Mr. Robert Anthony Ygrubay bagged the championship title halting the long year winning-streak of Philippine Science High School. Team City High took advantage of this success making them triumphant in this UP tilt.

Likewise, Liezel Sermense in Quiz Show Individual and Floyd Nepomuceno in Di-Nakahandang Talumpati both bagged the 3rd spots. Kiarah Anne Felices, Thor Lois Loberiano, and Eliel Jade Labana were finalists in their respective categories. They were coached by Mr. Samuel A. Repelente, Mrs. Hazel Paghunasan, and Mr. Sunray Balasbas. CCNHS was hailed 2nd runner up right after STEFTI being the 1st runner up and Philippine Science High School which is the champion. Team City High represented Region 8 in the Patalasanlahi 2017 in UP Diliman.

Soldiered with City High’s SCP-STE top contenders- Kiarah Anne Felices, Thor Lois Loberiano and Ayana Kelsey Munoz with their coach Mr. Arnel Julaton, the school championed the Quiz Bee Team Category domineering other high schools such as Leyte National High School and other private schools. Liezel Sermense, with her coach Mrs. Meriam Calesa, got the 3rd place in Quiz Show Individual Category same as her title in the UP Pakaritay.

Winners brought home trophies and medals added up the school’s compendium of awards. (CJ/The City High Bulletin)
